Paul’s confidence in the Corinthians was never rooted in them, but in the God who was faithfully at work within them. He trusted that the One who began the good work would finish it — in His timing, in His ways — even when the final product was not yet visible. The same is true for us. We don’t have to see the end result before resting in the Lord’s steady, purposeful work. We can trust that He knows what He is doing, and we can live with a quiet confidence in the God who works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.
